Expensive Lines (Canción)

Expensive Lines
Patricio Escobar

Words and words I tried to join
into something never seen
Didn't want to earn a coin
Only sought to please the ear

Hardly looked for inspiration
In the late hours of each night
Many times I felt like quitting
I was getting nothing right.

You dye your hair, you're fairly short
Shall I write about your mole?
I know your laughter, you cycle to school
Let me teach you a grammatical rule

When I finally reached to something
And I felt it could be good
I prepared myself for showing
To the girl the finished work

Those expensive lines I dropped
All that precious time spent
Only made you smile and nod
Turned around and walked away

You dye your hair, you're fairly short
Shall I write about your mole?
I know your laughter, you cycle to school
Let me teach you a grammatical rule

But I've got to be sincere
You are not the one I see
When I close my eyes and go to sleep
